New Virginia Majority Celebrates ARPA-funded Rent Relief Programs Launching in Loudoun County

For the past two years, New Virginia Majority (NVM) has worked with Loudoun County residents to ensure that federal ARPA funding will be used to help residents stay in their homes by providing rental assistance, eviction prevention and utility assistance, with nearly $6 million allocated for rental assistance. We are pleased to announce the Loudoun Cares program will launch at noon today, and community members may apply at https://www.loudouncares.org/help/ by filling out the online pre-screening form.

We applaud the efforts that the Loudoun Board of Supervisors have made to move this forward, although there is still much work to do to ensure that all residents have adequate housing. To help ensure the process goes smoothly for members, our NVM Loudoun office (21515 Ridgetop Circle, Suite #240, Sterling, Va.) will be open from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. today and have volunteers available to help members complete the pre-screening form.

“I have been involved in this process from the beginning, and I can say it hasn’t been easy. I have seen the community become hopeful by fighting for something. Now that we have it, I am sure that it will benefit many families,” said Ovidia Castillo, NVM member.

NVM members in Loudoun have been organizing for two years to ensure that the federal ARPA funds Loudoun County received actually reached the communities they were intended for. Thanks to the tireless organizing and community support for this campaign, the funds are finally being made available to county tenants,” said Sofia Saiyed, NVM campaign coordinator.
